Our History
1931
Henton & Chattell was founded in 1931 by two friends, Leslie Henton and Charles Chattell. It was a year when the great depression was in force and undoubtedly a brave venture.
The first premises, selling ironmongery, was located in Beeston, Nottingham. They opened a further two shops, one in Lenton and the other in West Bridgford.
1949
In 1949 the two partners consolidated their retail premises into one. A large house next to their existing Henton & Chattell premises on Radcliffe Road was converted to a showroom. At the same time they purchased new premises that are located on London Road, Nottingham.
With around 5,000 sq ft of space, this was the start of the company destined to become the major independent Grass Machinery Distributor in the UK.
Today
Today, Henton and Chattell are leading distributors for many of the major professional and domestic brands in the UK and offer a number of exclusive product ranges ideally suited to your needs.
Our customers benefit from pre and post-sales support for all of our products including direct delivery options for machine down and complete parts back up.

James joined Henton & Chattell in June 1980 at the age of 16. He started as a junior sales assistant before moving on to demonstrator and subsequently to area sales manager.

Lee has been in the grass industry for over 25 years. Working at Long Sutton Golf Club for 10 years before becoming head greenkeeper. Lee then movedto Henton & Chattell in 2001.
